Connect X1 to another app

Use X1 from any app that speaks MCP.

Add one address and sign in. Apps on your own computer connect right away, and web apps connect once we've confirmed where their sign-in goes.

X1 holds your household record: the trusts, entities, properties, and the documents behind them. Any app that can use MCP can ask that record questions and get answers with the source attached.

Connect X1 in four steps.

Have an X1 account with at least one document in it before you start. The exact menus differ by app; look for MCP servers or connectors in its settings.

  1. 01

    Add X1

In your app's MCP settings, add a remote server named X1 with the address https://mcp.x1wealth.com/mcp. If the app asks for a transport, choose Streamable HTTP.

  2. 02

    Sign in with X1

Your browser opens the X1 sign-in. Sign in with the X1 account you want the app to work from and approve the access. Apps that run on your own computer, such as terminal agents and desktop apps, finish here without anything from us.

  3. 03

    Check the connection

Open the app's list of servers or tools and check that X1 is connected and its tools are showing.

  4. 04

Ask one question you can check

Ask "Use X1: what does X1 have on file for our trust?" and open the document it cites. If no source comes back, check that the trust is in X1 and open to your account.

Start with a question you can check.

  • Use X1 to find the documents that show who owns the rental property. Show each source and flag anything that disagrees.

It lays out the ownership chain one document at a time, so you can check each link.

  • Use X1 to review the new K-1. What does the record support, and what should I ask the CPA?

It keeps the review tied to the source and ends with a concrete question.

  • Use X1 to list what's waiting for me to confirm in my household record.

It shows what X1 found and still needs your yes before it becomes part of the record.

What another app can do with X1.

  • Answer questions from your household record, with the document behind each answer.
  • Search the documents your access allows for the passage that supports a fact.
  • Show the businesses, trusts, and properties in the record, and the changes waiting for confirmation.
  • Keep the work moving within what your X1 account allows. X1 asks for your approval when a step needs it.

An app reaches only what your X1 account can reach, whichever app it is. If the record doesn't cover something, X1 says so instead of guessing.

If a step doesn't work.

The app can't reach X1
Check the address is exactly https://mcp.x1wealth.com/mcp, with /mcp at the end, and that the app is set to Streamable HTTP.
You sign in, but the app still can't use X1
X1 accepts a web app's sign-in only at an address we've confirmed belongs to the company that runs it. Email support@x1wealth.com with the app's name and the sign-in (redirect) address it uses, and we'll add it once that's confirmed. Apps that run on your own computer don't need this.
A desktop or terminal app's sign-in is refused
A local app's sign-in has to return to 127.0.0.1 or localhost on a port, over http. If yours uses something else, tell us at the address above.
Your sign-in has expired
Remove X1 from the app and add it again, then finish the X1 sign-in in your browser.

Questions about another app and X1.

Which apps can connect?
Any app that supports remote MCP servers and signs in with OAuth. Apps on your own computer connect directly. Web apps connect once we've confirmed their sign-in address, which is a one-time check per app.
Why does a web app need to be added first?
When a web app signs you in, it sends your approval to its own server. Checking that the server belongs to the company that runs the app means no one can stand up a lookalike sign-in to collect access to your family's records. Apps on your own computer send that approval to your own machine, so they don't need the check.
Can I use a free X1 account?
Yes. A free X1 account connects the same way, with a vault that holds up to 10 documents.
Can I connect with an API key instead?
If your X1 plan includes API keys, create one in X1 under Settings, API keys, and send it as an Authorization: Bearer header to the same address. That works from any app or script, with no sign-in step.
Can another app move money through X1?
No. X1 doesn't trade or move money, from any app.
