Build with X1

Build the view your software doesn’t have.

Claude Code can build you a financial dashboard in an afternoon. X1 gives it something solid to build on: your deeds, operating agreements and policies, filed under the company or property each one belongs to, with the document behind each answer.

The exercises use fictional records, so you don’t need an account to try them.

Fictional records from the property exercise.

Two ways in

Whose records are you building on?

For your household

You run properties, companies and a family. No app shows all of it.

Build the view you keep wishing existed, like which LLC holds which property and which document says so. Your assistant works from your X1 record instead of a folder of PDFs you have to explain again every time.

A free account stores your documents and answers questions inside X1. Automatic filing comes with membership, and connecting Claude Code or Codex depends on your account. See pricing or how connecting works.

For your practice

You already build with Claude Code. Give it your practice’s knowledge.

Build meeting-prep tools on the documents each client has chosen to share with you, plus your firm’s own procedures and checklists, which X1 keeps as your Firm Brain. Each client’s records stay separate from your firm’s knowledge.

Whatever your assistant reads is processed by its provider under your agreement with them. Security covers how X1 handles the rest.

Why not just ask your assistant?

Sometimes you should.

If the files are on your desk and you need one answer, your assistant can handle it alone. The Build with X1 skill, an instruction file you give your assistant, tells it to say so. X1 is for the work that comes back next quarter.

  1. 01

    Your records are already filed.

Upload your documents or connect a Google Drive, Dropbox or Box folder. X1 suggests which property or company each one belongs to, and nothing is filed until you confirm.

  2. 02

The finding is done for you.

X1 prepares each file for search, so your assistant asks for the passage it needs and gets it back with the document it came from. It doesn’t have to open every PDF you own.

  3. 03

Your record isn’t stuck in a chat.

Switch from Claude Code to Codex, or rebuild the dashboard next year, and the next build starts from the same record. You can download your originals and export your record whenever you want.

Pick one question

Start with an answer you can check.

Each exercise gives your assistant a few fictional documents and shows the answer it should reach. Run one, compare, then point the same build at your own record.

They’re built around the mistakes a quick read makes, like taking a deed as today’s title or a quote as coverage. The skill tells your assistant to leave a field open rather than guess.

Set it up

Connect, add the skill, ask.

  1. 1

    Connect X1 to your assistant

Follow the setup for Claude Code, Codex or another assistant. You’ll need assistant access on your X1 account. You can skip this and start with an exercise.

  2. 2

Add the Build with X1 skill

    Claude Code
    .claude/skills/build-with-x1/, then run /build-with-x1
    Codex
    .agents/skills/build-with-x1/, then run $build-with-x1
    Any other assistant
Paste the copied text into the conversation.
  3. 3

    Ask for one view

Name one question and one output. This is the property example. Swap in your own.

Use Build with X1 to add a table to my existing project showing the parties named for one property and their source roles. Keep my stack and my data. Make it work with the fictional property exercise first. Tell me when my own files are enough and what an X1 connection would add. Read only: do not save, share, upload or send anything.

Where this has been tested

So far, Claude Code has run the skill on fictional records (October 11, 2026). Codex and builds against a live X1 record are still being tested. If your assistant skips local skills, paste the copied text instead.
