Connect X1 to Muse

Ask Muse about a household, and see the source behind the answer.

Create an X1 API key, then ask Muse to add X1 as a custom connector. From then on, Muse answers questions about the households you serve from their X1 records, without you pasting documents into the chat.

A client question about one property can run through a deed, a trust, an LLC, and the CPA's files. With X1 connected, Muse works from the household record your firm keeps in X1, so the answer covers the whole chain.

Connect X1 to Muse in four steps.

You need an X1 professional account and a few minutes. Create a key in X1, then set up the connector in a Muse chat.

    Create an X1 API key

    In X1, open Settings, then API Keys, and choose Create Key. Read only is enough to ask questions and draft. Copy the key right away, because X1 shows it once.

    Ask Muse to add X1

    In a Muse chat, ask: "Create a custom connector for X1 at https://mcp.x1wealth.com/mcp." Muse walks you through the setup.

    Give Muse the key

    When Muse asks for credentials, paste your X1 API key. Muse keeps it in its Secure Credentials Store.

  4. 04

    Check that it works

    Ask "Using X1, what do you have on file for the Alvarez household?", with a household you serve. Open the document Muse cites and check its date. If nothing comes back, check that the key is still active in X1 and ask again.

  • What has the Alvarez household confirmed since our last review, and what is still open?

    You walk into the meeting knowing what changed.

  • A K-1 arrived for the Alvarez rental LLC. Which entity owns it, and what does their CPA still need?

    It ties a new document to the right entity and turns the gaps into a short list.

  • Draft the questions for Thursday's review with the Alvarez family.

    You get a draft built from the record, ready to edit and send.

What Muse can do with X1.

  • Answer questions from each household's record, with the document behind each answer.
  • Search the documents your access allows for the passage that supports a fact.
  • Show the businesses, trusts, and properties in a record, and the changes waiting for confirmation.
  • With an X1 professional account, also draft replies, meeting briefs, and document requests for you to review and send.

Muse reaches what your X1 account can reach. If the record doesn't cover something, X1 says so instead of guessing.

If a step doesn't work.

Muse can't reach X1
Check that the address is exactly https://mcp.x1wealth.com/mcp and that the key is still active in X1 under Settings, then API Keys. If you revoked or replaced it, give Muse the new key.
You lost the key
X1 shows a key once. Revoke the old one under Settings, then API Keys, create a new one, and ask Muse to update the X1 connector with it.
Muse answers without X1
Name X1 in the question, like "Using X1, what has the Alvarez household confirmed?", so Muse knows to use the connector.

Questions about Muse and X1.

Which X1 accounts connect to Muse?
Muse connects with an X1 API key, and API keys come with X1 professional accounts. For your own household, X1 connects to Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex with a free account.
Where does Muse keep the key?
In Muse's Secure Credentials Store. You can revoke the key in X1 at any time, under Settings, then API Keys, and Muse can no longer reach X1 with it.
Does Muse act on its own?
By default, Muse asks before it takes important actions, and you can change that in Muse's settings. X1 separately limits which actions this connection can take.
How do I disconnect X1?
In Muse, go to Settings, then Connectors, and disconnect X1. Revoke the key in X1 as well. Information Muse already used may remain in its memories and chat history.
Can Muse move money through X1?
No. X1 doesn't trade or move money, in Muse or anywhere else.
